Michiganders Encouraged To Check Their Freezers For Recalled Shrimp, Shrimp Products

Michigan health officials on Monday asked residents to check their freezers for recalled shrimp products.

Officials said the products may contain Cesium-137 (Cs-137), which is a human-made radioactive substance that can increase the risk of cancer. They encouraged residents to not eat or serve the recalled shrimp. Instead, they should toss it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

According to the FDA, no product that has tested positive or alerted for Cs-137 has entered the U.S. marketplace. However, there is a risk that some untested shrimp may have been sold in stores.

As of last week, there were no reported illnesses.

The recalled products may have been sold in Walmart and Kroger stores, as well as Kroger affiliate stores. They include:
