The most popular pumpkin dish in Michigan is quite unusual, according to a new Coffeeness study.
While people in most states seek pumpkin sweets, such as pumpkin bread or pumpkin cookies, Michiganders prefer pumpkin soup, according to the study.
"Pumpkin soup represents the sophisticated, savory side of America’s pumpkin obsession, popular in four major states known for their diverse culinary scenes and appreciation for both comfort food and international flavors," Coffeeness said in the study.

Other surprising results the study found was that pumpkin spice lattes topped just one state: South Dakota. Only North Dakota and Wyoming chose pumpkin pie as their favorite, while just three states chose pumpkin seeds.
At the top of the list was pumpkin bread (20 states), while Pumpkin muffins (11 states) and pumpkin cookies (9 states) came in second and third.
Coffeeness determined the study by using Google search trends relating to more than 30 traditional and modern pumpkin-based foods and beverages.
