Poor Air Quality Lingers Across MI Area Due To Wildfire Smoke

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — The Detroit area had some of the worst air quality in the world Monday morning.

Air quality in the Detroit area was unhealthy for sensitive groups, as wildfire smoke from Canada continues to pour into Michigan.

An Air quality advisory remains in effect for all of Michigan through Monday.

Officials said conditions may be unhealthy for sensitive groups and urged them to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, keep windows closed overnight and run central air conditioners with high-rate filters.

Residents should also watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness or burning in the nose, throat and eyes.

Highs will reach the 80s Monday with comfortable humidity levels across the Detroit area, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs will gradually warm up throughout the week, eventually leading to hot and humid conditions by the end of the week, the weather service said.
