South American Crocodile Found In MI Neighborhood
Investigators do not know how the crocodile made it to Michigan or who it belonged to.
HAMPTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A South American crocodile was found in a Michigan front yard, according to police.
Officers were called Tuesday to a home in Hampton Township in Bay County for an alligator report, according to police.
When officers arrived, they found the young three-foot-long American Crocodile relaxing under an apple tree, according to police.

Officers gave the crocodile to the Wilderness Trails Zoo, who will make a home and care for the neotropical animal.
Investigators do not know how the crocodile made it to Michigan or who it belonged to. It is native to South America, Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico and southern Florida.

"There is no information at this time as to how the Croc got out into the wild," police said in a statement.
