MSHDA Grant, Axon contract lead county agenda with $5M combined impact (wlen.com) — Lenawee County, meeting in Adrian, has secured a $1.5 million state grant to repair up to 75 owner-occupied homes, targeting safety and long-term housing stability through 2026–27. Commissioners are also weighing a 10-year, $4 million Axon contract to unify body-camera and digital evidence systems, with unlimited storage and an opt-out clause still under discussion.
   

2. Lenawee Department on Aging urgently needs meal delivery volunteers (lenconnect.com) — Lenawee County’s Department on Aging is urgently seeking volunteer drivers this month to keep hot meals and wellness checks going for homebound seniors in communities including Adrian. You can choose a schedule that fits your life, even just one day, and ride along with an experienced driver to learn the route. Interested residents can call 517-264-5280 for details.
   

3. Richard Michael Bowen (wlen.com) — Adrian natives may remember Richard “Dick” Bowen, who was born in Adrian, graduated from Adrian High School, and went on to a long bricklaying career after Navy service in Vietnam. Now a Lansing resident, he is survived by four children and four grandchildren, with funeral details to be announced later this month.

Women's basketball: Ex-Zag Bree Salenbien leading Ball State to strong early-season start (spokesman.com) — Adrian native Bree Salenbien has moved closer to home, starring for Ball State after transferring from Gonzaga to be within driving distance of Adrian. She’s averaging a double-double and finally enjoying a healthy season, while reflecting on how injuries reshaped her outlook on basketball and life. The piece also recaps regional women’s college basketball storylines.
   

5. Ernest Vontress Travis (wlen.com) — An 88-year-old Adrian resident, Ernest Vontress Travis, has passed away, with visitation set for this afternoon, Dec. 11, at Purse Funeral Home on Adrian Highway. Funeral services will be held Friday in Toledo, followed by military honors and burial Saturday in Detroit, and friends are invited to pay their respects and support the family.
