• Ann Arbor nonprofit Snow Buddy works to clear sidewalks after snowfall, but machines need repairs (wxyz.com) — A volunteer-run Ann Arbor nonprofit called Snow Buddy, which usually clears 16 miles of neighborhood sidewalks in the Water Hill area, is sidelined while all three of its snow machines are in for repairs. Residents and volunteers describe how much they rely on the service and note that ongoing donations from neighbors are crucial to keeping the plows running each winter.
   

• 17-year-old charged in Ann Arbor deadly shooting of teen girl (fox2detroit.com) — Ann Arbor police and prosecutors have charged a 17-year-old as an adult in the fatal shooting of local teen Chikylah Richardson inside an Ann Arbor apartment, with the case now moving through Washtenaw County court. Investigators say the two met so the suspect could get his hair braided, and a judge has ordered strict no-contact with the victim’s family while the circumstances of the shooting are still being investigated.
   

• Michigan House cancels $645M in state spending without Senate OK (bridgemi.com) — Ann Arbor residents are represented at the center of a major Lansing budget clash, as Rep. Jason Morgan and other Democrats condemn a Republican-led move to cancel $645 million in state project funding without Senate approval. The cuts hit programs ranging from maternal cash grants to cultural institutions, and could reshape how tax dollars are negotiated heading into 2026.
