Berkley Native Promoted To Lead Military Base
Bowdich To Command Naval Air Station Whiting Field

Capt. Paul Bowdich, a Berkley native, officially took command of the Naval Air Station at Whiting Field in Milton, Fla, yesterday. On Dec 18, Bowditch accepted command of NAS Whiting Field from his predecessor, Capt. Todd Bahlau. According to the Santa Rosa Press Gazette, “The change of command ceremony is a Navy tradition that enables the two officers to formally exchange duties in front of the assembled military and civilian staff. It is also a time to recognize accomplishments of the outgoing 'Skipper' in front of his family and friends.”
Bowditch will serve as the base’s 42nd commanding officer. The Berkley graduate from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1994, and became a Naval aviator in April 1997.
