Moms Talk: What Are Your Tips for Helping Students Succeed?

How do you help your scholar stay motivated and focused during the school year?

In (dads, you're welcome to chime in, too!), we asked whether you'd have back-to-school blues or be relieved when the kids returned to class.

Here's what you had to say:

  • Libby Turpin: As a teacher, I love spending my summers with my kids. Yet, I do miss the routine. Although, our schedules do get hectic with school, sports, work, we, as a family, seem to make more of an effort to spend quality time together when we are working within our routine. The one aspect of summer I will miss the most: waking up before the rest of the house, sipping my morning coffee, and getting my work done before the day begins.
  • Alissa Malerman: I feel a little sad this year, as my youngest will be starting kindergarten and I can't believe he's old enough to start elementary school. That time went by FAST! But more so, I am excited to see what he learns and how he will do.

This week, we'd like to hear how you help your student succeed. Do you have a strategy for long-term planning? How do you help your scholar stay motivated and focused when they have the distractions of friends, sports, extra-curricular activities and jobs?
