BERKLEY, MI — A popular metro Detroit pop-up ice cream stand is opening its first brick-and-mortar storefront in Oakland County.

Bombshell Treat Bar will open its doors sometime this summer in downtown Berkley, the owners said Tuesday in a news release.

The new store, roughly 2,200 square feet and designed by Mcintosh Poris Associates, will be at 2688 Coolidge Highway in Berkley.

The sweets shop, known for their signature chocolate dipped ice cream bars, started with pop-ups that focused on contactless delivery during the pandemic. The owners took their ice cream cart, the "Big Dipper," across metro Detroit to various locations.

The homemade chocolate bars are first dipped into melted, flavored Belgian chocolate, and then topped with a variety of add-ons, such as candy sprinkles, potato chips and pretzels. Other chocolate flavors include lemonade, cookie butter, salted caramel and Mexican hot chocolate.

"Bombshell Treat Bar was born out of a desire to put more joy into the world," owner Jill Kasle said. "Getting started during the pandemic was a real challenge, but we’re proud that we were able to push through and continue to grow. Berkley is going to be very special, and we can’t wait to open our doors."
