Public Library Hosts Inaugural Drag Queen Story Time

Huntington Woods Public Library hosted one of the state's first drag queen story time events.

The Huntington Woods Library began hosting one of the first Drag Queen Story Time events in Michigan this week. Huntington Woods native Miss Raven Divine Cassadine, the current reigning Miss Motor City Pride, came to the community center to read stories and sing songs with area children this week.

According to the Oakland County Times, nearly 100 children attended the event, so many that the library had to add a second story time to accommodate everyone. The event was such a success that the library added two more story time events. The Huntington Woods Library will hold two more Drag Queen Story Time events: Thursday, Jan 18, 2018 from 6:30pm – 7:15pm, and Thursday, Feb 15, 2018 from 6:30pm – 7:15pm. While details are still being finalized, the events will likely also take place at the Huntington Woods Recreation Center, 26325 Scotia Rd. Parents can register for drag queen story time online through the Huntington Woods Public Library.

Grownups who want to see Miss Raven perform can find her locally at as part of the house cast at Cafe Gigi’s in Detroit, and sometimes at and Bretz in Toledo.
