Mosaic Youth Theater at the zoo

When: 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon Saturday

Why go: The Mosaic Youth Theater will perform at the Wildlife Interpretive Gallery Theater. The multicultural arts organization aims to develop young artists.

Green Cruise

When: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday

Where: Nine Mile Road and Planavon Street, Ferndale

Why go: Join the Sierra Club during Ferndale's Green Cruise and enjoy arts and crafts projects, a climbing tower, face painting, sidewalk chalk, educational programs, free bike checkups and more. There also will be a parade at noon, and you can participate bike rides from four to 40 miles. Sample free healthful foods and beverages and browse educational and vendor booths.

Cost: Admission and activities are free; food samples are free, but vendors will charge for larger portions.

Preserving the Harvest
