• Benzie County approves 2026 fee increases for building inspection (recordpatriot.com) — Starting February 1, Benzie County’s building permit and inspection fees, administered from Beulah, will rise by an average of 18%, with higher increases for commercial work and final inspections. Commissioners approved a new contract with Associated Government Services to cover building, soil erosion, and environmental compliance, citing administrative costs and technology upgrades, and will now review fees annually.
   

• DNR recommends $299K for Thompsonville trail paving (manisteenews.com) — Beulah residents who use the Betsie Valley Trail could soon see smoother riding toward Thompsonville, as a $299,000 recommended state grant would fund paving another 0.82-mile stretch. The project advances a multiphase plan to fully pave the trail between Beulah and Thompsonville, building on a mile already paved from the Beulah trailhead to Case Road.
