21-Year-Old Woman Dies In West Bloomfield Crash, 2 Injured: Police

Police said the crash happened Monday at 8:39 p.m. on Branford Drive at Berwick near Halsted and Maple.

WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI — A 21-year-old Commerce Township woman died Monday after the driver of a vehicle she was in crashed into a large rock and trees in West Bloomfield, police said.

Officials said a 17-year-old boy was driving a white 2022 Chevrolet Colorado on Branford Drive, just north of Berwick Drive, near Halsted and Maple roads in West Bloomfield at 8:39 p.m.

Police said the boy was driving over the 25 mph speed limit when he lost control of the truck and veered off the road, crashing into a large rock and several trees.

The 21-year-old woman was in the backseat and was found dead at the scene by officers, police said. The 17-year-old driver and the 16-year-old front passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash.

All three were Commerce Township residents, officials said.

Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, as the investigation into the crash continues.
