- Why Go:Â Enjoy St. Patrick's Day at Birmingham's only Irish pub. The pub will open at 7 a.m. Saturday for those early-morning revelers looking for an Irish breakfast. You could also get a headstart on the Irish action by stopping by Thursday night, when Madigan's Attic performs at 10 p.m. Whenever you stop by, though, prepare for an authentic Irish experience. The Birmingham bar and restaurant was recently voted the Best Irish Bar in Detroit by Real Detroit Weekly.

- When: 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday
- Why Go: The Motor City Lyric Opera returns to Birmingham this year for their annual Patricktide concert, featuring classic Celtic music, soprano Mary Callgahan and tenor Patrick Lynch. The MCLO Children's Chorus and Irish Dancers will join in on the festivities. Following will be an afterglow party with the artists; the suggested ticket price is $15 for adults and $5 for kids. All proceeds will be donated to the Motor City Lyric Opera's "Opera on Wheels" anti-bullying outreach program.Â

- Why Go: Enjoy green cocktails and other specialty drinks all night at Birmingham's only "pre-St. Patrick's Day party" at The Corner Bar. Call for advance tickets and table reservations at 248-647-2958.
