
On May 25, the Oakland County Schools Business Officials (OCSBO) met to recognize one of their own. Deborah Piesz, Assistant Superintendent for Business Services at was named the 2011-12 Business Administrator of the Year.
This award is given annually to an Oakland County school business officer to recognize outstanding accomplishments and contributions to their profession. Piesz was one of three nominees and was selected by the OCSBO Executive Committee.
Piesz, a past president (2007-08) of OCSBO is also an active member of the Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) and is certified as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) through MSBO. She is also a CPA and formerly worked for Plante & Moran, PLLC.

“Debbie is an outstanding administrator who exemplifies the very best in business administration," Piesz's colleagues said of her. "She is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, detail-oriented, ethical and completely dedicated to student success. Although her area of influence may seem to be the business side of the house, Debbie is actively involved in key decisions regarding student achievement and overall district performance.”
“Michigan’s economy has been challenging to all school districts," they said. "Debbie has been doing a terrific job keeping cuts away from the classroom so the kids can get the most of their education.”

OCSBO is a countywide association of school business officials. The Business Administrator of the Year Awards have been handed out annually since 1997.
