Blaire Alise Bacon Wins Singer/Songwriter Competition and Scholarship to Berklee College of Music

Blaire Alise Bacon, a sophomore at Cranbrook Schools and resident of Bloomfield Hills, MI, was a winner of the Berklee College of Music Singer/Songwriter Competition and was awarded a full scholarship to attend the college’s five-week summer program in 2013.

Blaire attended this year’s five-week summer program at Berklee College of Music, the prestigious contemporary music school in Boston.  She entered the Singer/Songwriter Competition and performed her original song, “Nothing Left Of Me To Take” on guitar. Blaire was selected by guest artists Melissa Ferrick and Sally Taylor (daughter of Carly Simon and James Taylor) and featured in the Singer/Songwriter Showcase held at Café 939 in Boston.  

In addition, after a rigorous audition process, Blaire was selected to receive a full scholarship to return to Berklee College of Music next summer.

Blaire is a classical pianist, vocalist, guitarist and songwriter.  She began playing classical piano at age four, and at twelve years old, Blaire began touring the nation with the School of Rock All Stars as a keyboardist and vocalist.  In 2011, at fifteen years old, she formed Smudge Candy, an all girl garage rock band that performs major Detroit venues and festivals. Smudge Candy released their first self-titled vinyl EP in December at St. Andrew’s Hall.  

Blaire was recently featured on Concert Prodigy, a Bloomfield Cable TV show, which highlights young musicians with exceptional talent.
