On the Agenda: Papa Joe's Bistro Concept Back Before the Commission

The Birmingham City Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Birmingham City Hall.

Consent Agenda:

All items listed on the consent agenda are considered to be routine and will be enacted by one motion and approved by a roll call vote. There will be no separate discussion of the items unless a commissioner or citizen so requests.

  • Approving $19,760 in municipal credits and $5,304.50 in community credits to provide support for the 's specialized transportation program. In addition, $16,756.50 in community credits is up for approval for the purchase of a new bus shelter on the south side of East Maple between Woodward and Elm.
  • Approving a request from Church World Service to hold the CROP Walk in Birmingham on Oct. 7.
  • Approving a request from the Birmingham Bloomfield Chai Center to place a Sukkah in Sept. 30-Oc.t 10, with a family even on Oct. 4. 
  • Approving a request from and the Torry Neighborhood Association to hold the Our Shepherd/Torry 5K on Sept. 22.
  • Accepting the resignation of Robert Gilman from the Traffic and Safety Board.
  • Setting a public hearing date for Aug. 13, during which several oridinance amendments will be discussed. These amendments deal mainly with alcohol sales in various business zones.

  • Scheduling a public hearing to request the revocation of the on-premises liquor licenses for the now-closed . The liquor license is owned by Woodward Tap, Inc.
  • A public hearing of necessity for the installation of sidewalk streetscaping adjacent to the properties on Pierce from Maple Road to Merrill, and on East Merrill Street from Pierce to South Old Woodward.
  • Approving a charter amendment to the Birmingham City Code regarding the sale and leasing of municipal property.

 

Unfinished Business:

The City Commission will consider assigning the rights of the existing bistro contract with to a new co-licensee, Addie & Jacks. .
