The marching band is looking to take a trip to Pearl Habor, Hawaii next winter, but they need your help first.
Members of the marching band gave out 5,500 American flags Monday for Memorial Day, planting them throughout the city's neighborhoods in the hopes residents will help them raise the funds the band needs for their trip.
The band will be going to Hawaii next February, where students will perform on USS Battleship Missouri while also touring the USS Arizona Memorial and learning more about the attacks on Dec. 7, 1941.

When Birmingham residents woke up on Memorial Day, American flags with notes attached lined the streets.
"If everyone in our community recieving a flag would send in a donation of just $10 or more, our efforts will result in a huge success, supporting us with $55,000 in funding," the note reads. "Please be as generous as you can be."
