Birmingham Bride To-Be Has Missing Cat With Heart Condition

Achilles' owner, who's getting married out-of-state this weekend, said the cat reportedly took off Tuesday.

Meagan Darlington will have plenty to do, and plenty on her mind as she prepares to get married in Vermont this weekend. But the Birmingham resident's thoughts will also be on her hometown and the ongoing search for her missing cat.

Achilles, a 4-year-old Bengal cat, was last seen by Darlington early Monday morning, and was reportedly last seen by a neighbor on Henrietta Street heading   toward 14 Mile Road in Birmingham Tuesday afternoon.

"A neighbor called Tuesday but by time I got message he had taken off," Darlington wrote in an email to Birmingham Patch Wednesday night.

Compounding the problem is that Achilles has a heart condition that requires daily medication.

Set to get married Friday in Vermont, Darlington said she's sent photos to friends to start a poster campaign around the area and is relying solely on the 'kindness of friends' to search while she's away through next week.

Achilles does have a collar with tags. Anyone that spotted or found him is asked to call Darlington at 248-892-9088, or take Achilles to The Cat Practice in Birmingham.
