Birmingham Education Fund Is Raising Money For Student Experiences
The fund pays for field trips to the planetarium, literacy programs, and a visit to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

BIRMINGHAM, MI — Tax dollars alone aren't enough to support enriching educational opportunities for Birmingham Public School (BPS) students. That's where the Birmingham Education Foundation (BEF) comes in. The group is launching its annual fund campaign to raise money to support "exceptional educational experiences" for BPS students.
What does your BEF donation go towards? Funds are used to create experiences building off of the BPS curriculum. “Sometimes it is the little things that make a difference, like studying bees in science class all year long, or visiting a planetarium to help solidify that astronomy lesson. It could also be bigger things, like attending the global finals competition for champion problem solvers, or visiting with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra to learn appreciation for the fine arts and music," Alison Hendry, BEF’s executive director, said in a statement.
Not only that, Hendry explains "The BEF has supported literacy programs, helped at-risk students, provided the extras to make a program better or stronger and supported the teachers who come up with better ways to deliver curriculum to their students.”
