Birmingham Unified Gymnastics Team Finishes Second at Regionals

The team, made up of athletes from Seaholm and Groves, is heading to the state finals this weekend after finishing behind Farmington on Saturday.

The girls from the Birmingham Unified gymnastics team are heading to the state finals this weekend after finishing second at Saturday's regional tournament in Troy.

In total, the Birmingham team — made up of athletes from Seaholm and Groves high schools — finished the day with 139.1 points, coming in second behind Farmington, according to the MHSAA.

By finishing in the top three at the regional level, Birmingham has now qualified for the state tournament, to be held this weekend at Plymouth-Canton.

The team finals begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Plymouth-Canton while individual competition begins at noon, also at Plymouth-Canton.
