Bloomfield Hills Man Ran Illegal Chop Shop In Detroit: Police

A Bloomfield Hills man was of two men authorities say was stealing cars for their parts, and then scrapping the stolen cars.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI — A Bloomfield Hills man was of two men charged in connection to running an illegal chop shop in Detroit, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced Friday.

Calvin Lamont Pickett Jr., 43, of Bloomfield Hills and Fadi Abi-Fakhreddine, 58, of Ypsilanti were each charged with one count of criminal enterprise, twelve counts of Intent to pass a false title and twelve counts of receiving and concealing a motor vehicle.

Officials said the two men were stealing cars and stripping them for their parts before crushing the stolen cars. Officers said they discovered the chop shop on the 8850 block of Schaefer Highway in Detroit, after someone reported their car was stolen from the 13800 block of Mecca Street in November 2019.

On March 2, 2022, officers said they found fraudulent paperwork the two men used to cover up that they were stealing and crushing vehicles. The paperwork was related to the scrapping of the cars, according to officials.
