Drop Off Your Toys for Tots at Birmingham's MainStreet Design Build

If you're looking to give back this holiday season, Birmingham's MainStreet Design Build is making it that much easier.

MainStreet Design Build — the design and construction firm located in the 555 building on South Old Woodward — has been designated a 2012 drop-off site for Toys for Tots.

Managed by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, Toys for Tots is a program to collect new, unwrapped toys in November and December each year. These toys are distributed as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

"We really enjoy participating as a collection center," said Christine Ramaekers, CDK and vice president of MainStreet Design Build. "Our gift givers love to share the reason behind the gifts they have donated."

"And we've had several clients drop off and mail checks," Ramaekers added. "We're trying to make it easy for people to donate to a great cause."

MainStreet Design Build is only one Toys for Tots drop-off site in Metro Detroit.

"Knowing that we can count on companies like MainStreet Design Build to promote Toys for Tots' message and collect the toys is extremely helpful," said Debra Walls, local area coordinator for the Southeast Michigan Toys for Tots Program. "Times are still tough and we are thankful for their desire to help children in our community feel special."

All checks must be made payable to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. The MainStreet Design Build showroom is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday through Dec. 13.
