Groves, Country Day, Roeper Advance in Basketball Tournament
Meanwhile, Groves' narrow win over Southfield Friday night scored the Falcons their first district title since 2005.

Four Birmingham teams will be advancing to the next stage in the MHSAA basketball tournament next week after scoring big wins Thursday and Friday nights.
First up will be the boys. Teams from Groves High School, the Roeper Upper School and Detroit Country Day won their district final games Friday, meaning they'll move on to the regional round starting Monday.

- Roeper (Class D) defeated Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes 51-44. They play Peck at Lansing Christian Monday.
- Detroit Country Day (Class B) beat Clawson by a wide margin, 90-56, Friday night. They will host the regional tournament next week, playing Harper Woods Chandler Park first on Monday.
- Groves (Class A) just beat Southfield 55-51, meaning they'll go on to play University of Detroit Jesuit at Southfield on Monday.
For Groves, this is their first district title since 2005, MIPrepZone reports.
Meanwhile, the girls basketball squad from Detroit Country Day are heading to their third Class B quarterfinals appearance in as many years, after beating Ferndale handily in the regional finals Thursday, 59-37.

"It was a team effort, just like every other day," Country Day junior Asia Doss told MLive. "It doesn't matter who we play, we just have to play as a team."
Next up, Country Day faces Flint Powers in the MHSAA quarterfinals on Tuesday — a spot the Yellowjackets have seen before. The girls from Country Day have been defeated two years in a row in the quarterfinals by Goodrich.
However if the Yellowjackets see Goodrich at all, it will be in the state final. Should Country Day win on Tuesday, they play the winner of the match-up between Clare and Midland Bullock Creek in the semifinals.
Goodrich, meanwhile, first has to beat Livonia Ladywood and then the winner of the Marshall-Grand Rapids South Christian game to make it to the finals.
