Groves Students Explore Life After High School at Senior Seminar

Sometimes, it feels like growing up takes a long time. However for the senior class at Groves High School, that time is almost over and on Thursday, students will learn a little bit more about life after high school with help from some familiar faces.

Birmingham Public Schools will host the Groves Senior Seminar this Thursday at the Kensington Community Church campus in Troy. The annual seminar looks to offer the class of 2013 the knowledge and insight they'll need after graduation.

"Nearly 300 students attend to connect with community leaders and take a confident step forward to their futures," said Anne Cron from the district communications office.

The morning will begin with a keynote address by Robert and Joseph McClure, Groves graduates from 1997 and 1999, respectively, and founders of the Michigan-made McClure's Pickles.

Following that, students will participate in workshop sessions throughout the day on a variety of subjects, from character-building, leadership, personal health, academic and professional success and community involvement. Scheduled to lead one of the sessions is Detroit Lion Jason Hanson.
