Kindred Spirits Looking to Expand in Birmingham Area

Kindred Spirits Senior Care has been in Northville for two years and is looking to the Birmingham area to expand.

Founder and owners Kristin Kolasa recently submitted information about the business through the Small Business Spotlight.

Here are her answers.

What does your business offer? 

We offer assistance with activities of daily living. These include, but are not limited to; dressing assistance, light house keeping, meal preparation, doctor visits, transportation, errands, hospice support, bathing and showering assistance, medication reminders, pleasant companionship and respite care for family caregivers.

What's your most popular product or service? 

Working with our clients and family members to create a care plan that is specific to their needs and on their terms.

What do you want your business to be best known for?

KSSC was founded and operates under one simple rule; the golden rule. We do unto others as we would have done unto ourselves. It has always been my philosophy that you can achieve great outcomes through providing love, support and knowledge to our clients and their families and to our employees. I believe wholeheartedly in providing a loving, caring and compassionate environment for those who work for KSSC. It is then through the dedication and commitment to our staff members that transcends into providing exceptional care to our clients in their homes.

How did your business come to be? 

Kindred Spirits Senior Care ( KSSC) was founded in the fall of 2011. My education and background is in Family and Community services and my passion has always resided with serving our elderly population. The idea for KSSC came after my mother and I cared for a local homebound Northville resident named, Richard. My mother always said that she and Richard were " Kindred Spirits" and that became the inspiration for KSSC.

Why did you choose the area you did?

The decision was simple. I was born and raised in Northville. So opening a business here only seemed natural.
