Man, 35, Arrested In Birmingham Armed Robbery: Police

A man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery and threatening others at a Birmingham grocery store Saturday, according to police.

BIRMINGHAM, MI — A 35-year-old man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery and threatening others at a Birmingham grocery store Saturday, according to police.

Witnesses told officers the man walked into a Kroger store on Maple Road and Woodward Avenue at 9:50 p.m. and took a pre-paid mobile phone without paying for it, according to police.

Witnesses then told officers that when store employees confronted the man, he pulled a pistol from the waistband of his trousers and threatened them, according to police.

The man then left the store and was seen walking toward Woodward Avenue through the store's rear parking lot, according to police.

Shortly later, officers found the man hiding in bushes near a brick wall on the east side of a nearby bank's parking lot, according to police.

The man was the arrested in connection with the armed robbery at the Kroger store, according to police.

Officers also found an airsoft pistol and the stolen phone in the bushes where the suspect was hiding, according to police.

The man fought officers during the arrest and charges were pending, according to police.
