Man Leaves Phone In Birmingham Salon's Bathroom Recording Audio:Report

Police said workers found the cell phone recording for 3 hours and 40 minutes at the bottom of a trashcan in the salon.

BIRMINGHAM, MI — A man was arrested after police said he left a cell phone in a Birmingham salon's bathroom to record people, WDIV reported, citing Birmingham Police.

On May 10, police said workers found the cell phone recording for 3 hours and 40 minutes at the bottom of a trashcan in the salon at 270 North Old Woodward Avenue, the report said.

Workers at the salon told police the 26-year-old Clinton Township man entered the salon earlier that day and asked to use the bathroom. After using the bathroom, he then asked to make an appointment, but when the salon workers told him he needed a credit card, he left and said he'd be back later, the report said.

A few hours later, workers told police the man returned to the salon and immediately went into the bathroom and then left the salon "appearing upset." Workers told police the 3 hour and 40 minute time gap was the time between the man's two appearances in the salon, the report said.

Police said the man admitted to placing the phone in the bathroom to record audio, and that he knew it was wrong. He was arrested for eavesdropping, the report said.
