Motorist Arrested for Open Intoxicants, Driving Baby Without Carseat

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department made multiple alcohol-related arrests over the past week. Here are the incidents highlighted from recent police reports.
An officer on patrol stopped at the Speedway gas station, at 34750 Woodward Ave., for parked vehicle with its radio on loudly at 1 a.m. July 21, police reports said. The driver, a 29-year-old Shelby Township man, did not have a license with him.
Police looked into the vehicle and found an open bottle of beer, and an infant in the backseat restrained only by a lap belt and no carseat. They arrested the driver without incident, and cited him for having open intoxicants in a vehicle, driving without a license and violating Michigan's child-restraint law, reports said. A court date is pending.
A 39-year-old West Bloomfield woman faces charges for drunken driving after police stopped her vehicle for driving erratically on Maple Road near Waterfall Lane at about 2 a.m. July 23, reports said. Police determined she was under the influence of alcohol and arrested her without incident. Charges are pending.
