Oakland County Police Investigating Potential Threat Against High School
School staff said the student will not return to class while the investigation continues.
BEVERLY HILLS, MI — A Beverly Hills high school student was suspended this week amid an investigation of a potential threat against the school, officials said.
Groves High School staff alerted police at 9:30 p.m. Thursday about a "concerning" image that was posted online. The image showed several hunting rifles lying side by side, officials said.
Officials said the image was posted on a group thread related to the school district. It did not have any captions or make a direct threat made toward any individual or the school.

The tip came in from Michigan's OK2SAY, which is a system for reporting school threats anonymously.
Officers visited the student's home for a welfare check and talked to his parents, whom they said were very cooperative. Investigators were allowed to search the home and did not find any guns. They also said there are no firearms registered to the parents.

Further investigation revealed the photo had been taken several months ago when the student was in the Upper Peninsula, officials said.
Investigators determined there is no immediate threat to the community, but there will be additional security at the school.
School staff said the student will not return to class while the investigation continues.
