Construction will take place along southbound Southfield Road between Hanna and Lincoln beginning Monday for the next two weeks.

Heads up drivers, particularly if you drive on Southfield Road.
There will be periodic lane closures on southbound Southfield Road between Hanna and Lincoln, beginning Monday, while workers replace gas mains.
The project is expected to last two weeks, the Birmingham Engineering Department says, with the work happening between 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

In addition, at some point during the project, engineers expect there will be one day when the southbound lane may need to be closed entirely to connect the new gas main. A detour route will be posted at that time.
Until then, drivers can always bypass that stretch of Southfield by using Cranbrook Road to the west, or cutting down Pierce Street to the east.Â
