• No decision on TCH lawsuit dismissal motion (downtownpublications.com) — Birmingham’s lawsuit over the planned sale of The Community House building on Bates Street remains unresolved, as an Oakland County judge declined to hear oral arguments on an accelerated schedule. The city is asking the court to halt the February 5 closing to the Jewish Federation of Detroit, citing deed restrictions, while the operating group—now rebranded as The Birmingham Area Community Foundation—argues the sale is legal and beneficial for local nonprofit support.
   

• Now it's Brielle Brooks' time to lead Bloomfield Hills girls basketball (hometownlife.com) — Bloomfield Hills’ girls basketball team topped Birmingham Seaholm 35-25 on January 8, with senior center Brielle Brooks anchoring a young Black Hawks squad. Her leadership, rebounding, and late-game poise against Seaholm are helping a freshman-heavy roster stay competitive in the OAA-White and could shape future district-title hopes that Birmingham fans will be watching closely.
   

• Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed presents ‘terms of engagement' for data centers (planetdetroit.org) — Birmingham’s U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens is among the Senate hopefuls being pressed to take a stand on how massive data centers could affect Michigan’s energy bills, water, and climate goals. Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed has released detailed “terms of engagement” he wants communities and, eventually, federal law to use when weighing these projects, while other contenders outline or withhold their positions.
