Popular Detroit Butcher Shop Opening New Oakland County Location Soon

BIRMINGHAM, MI — A popular Detroit butcher shop and restaurant is planning to open a new Oakland County location sometime this spring, according to a news release.

Marrow, located in Detroit's West Village neighborhood, is planning a new spot at 283 Hamilton Row, just off Woodward Avenue in Birmingham, according to the release.

The shop is best-known for its aged steaks, sausages, deli meats and gourmet sundries.

The new 1,400-square-foot Birmingham Marrow, which would be its first location outside of Detroit, will feature a menu of fresh meats, hot and cold sandwiches, sausage rolls, snacks and coffee for dine-in or carryout, according to the release.

Executive Chef and Partner Sarah Welch, a four-time James Beard Foundation nominee and a finalist on Bravo’s "Top Chef" season 19, will lead a team of cooks, according to the release.

"Marrow is here to build and support a robust and sustainable food system in partnership with our farmers," said CEO and founder Ping Ho in the release. "We are excited to be in our first location outside of Detroit. Our products were so well-received at the Birmingham Farmer’s Market that we were inspired to open a permanent outlet. Now, Oakland County will have a convenient neighborhood store to enjoy a delicious lunch and shop for the locally sourced meats that our iconic Detroit establishment is known for."

Marrow Detroit Provisions launched in spring 2023 from the West Village butcher shop and focuses on humanely raised animals sourced from local farms.

In addition to the original West Village location on Kercheval location near Van Dyke, Marrow Detroit Provisions sells its products at Eastern Market on Saturdays and at Birmingham’s Farmers Market on select Sundays.

Marrow’s line of sausages are also sold at stores across Metro Detroit.
