Woman Hit By Car Crossing Birmingham Street: Police

The driver, a 57-year-old Ferndale man, was driving through a green light when he struck the woman, police said.

BIRMINGHAM, MI — A woman is recovering after she was hit by a car Thursday while crossing a Birmingham street, police said.

The 40-year-old Oak Park woman was crossing Woodward Avenue at Maple Road against the crosswalk signal at 8:53 p.m. when she was hit by the car, police said.

The driver, a 57-year-old Ferndale man, was driving through a green light when he struck the woman, police said.

The man immediately stopped and tried helping the woman, police said.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and listed in stable condition, police said.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
