Don't Miss These January Events at the Bloomfield Township Library

Check out these events at the Bloomfield Township Public Library this month.



The Bloomfield Township Public Library has a plethora of activities and special visits planned for the month. Here are some highlights:

Sign and Play  

Interested in how to better communicate with the toddlers in your life? Register for special classes with Signing Time Academy instructor Sara Ghioto, at 10 a.m. on the following Fridays: Jan. 10; Jan. 17 and Jan. 31. Ghioto will teach children from birth to 3 years old, and their caregivesr, sign language through songs, stories, and play activities. This series of signing classes is ASL-based and registration is required by calling the youth center.

Second Saturday Sale

Friends of the BTPL will host their monthly book sale in the library's lower level from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Jan. 11. The first hour is for Friends’ members only and there is no fee to attend.

Predators and Prey

Learn how hunters and the hunted have evolved over time to give themselves a fighting chance in the "Eternal Struggle", a program developed with the University of Michigan's Museum of Natural History at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16. Join the experts and others from the community on a monthly journey through time to explore predators and prey on Earth. Designed for children ages 6-11 years with their favorite adult. Registration is required.

Chamber Music Concert Series 

Hear the talented students from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater and Dance perform chamber music live from 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17. No registration is required for the free performance, sponsored by the Friends of the Bloomfield Township Public Library.

Quite the Pet of Cranbrook

From electric doors to the rear-mounted spare tire, James Scripps Booth designed innovative tools that some would argue was ahead of his time. The son of Cranbrook founders George and Ellen, developed innovations that still impact us today, and will be discussed during a special program Sunday Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. at the DeSalle Auditorium, Cranbrook Art Museum. Bloomfield Township residents can check out Cranbrook passes for free admission to the museum at the library, and no registration is required. The Museum has an admission fee.
