A popular Oakland County sushi restaurant permanently closed its doors Monday after five years.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI — A popular Oakland County sushi restaurant permanently closed its doors Monday after five years.

Zao Jun, located in a strip mall on Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Hills, announced the closure on social media and said new ownership is coming in with a new concept.

"Renovations begin immediately, and the space will reopen refreshed, reimagined, and ready to serve the neighborhood in a whole new way," the post said.

Despite closing the Bloomfield Hills restaurant, Zao Jun hinted they may reopen somewhere else.

"Follow along for updates as we look to relocate Zao Jun," the post read.

Zao Jun was best known for its sushi dishes and Pan-Asian cuisine, including Chinese, Japanese and Thai dishes. The restaurant had a 4.2/5 rating with nearly 600 reviews on Open Table.

The new restaurant coming into the space will be a Mediterranean-fusion eatery, according to a Detroit Free Press report.
