Incumbents, Charter Amendments Approved in Bloomfield Hills
More than 21 percent of city voters cast ballots in Tuesday's election.

Voters in Bloomfield Hills on Tuesday returned incumbents Pat Hardy and Stuart Sherr, and also elected longtime planning board member Mike Coakley to the City Commission.
Sherr, appointed to the commission last year to fulfill the term vacated by Mike McCready, who joined the State House of Representatives, tallied the most votes at 529 (29.64 percent), according to unofficial results from the Oakland County Clerk's Office. Hardy was next with 517 (28.96 percent), and Coakley finished with 424 (23.75 percent). Zoning Board member and Patch blogger Mark Kapel finished with 17.48 percent of the vote.Â
Roughly 21 percent of city voters cast ballots Tuesday, which was just above the countywide turnout of 18.89 percent.Â
"I am happy, and I believe we have a good team going forward," Hardy said. "It’s an exciting time for me personally, and I am grateful to everyone who took the time to vote."
Â
Voters also overwhelmingly supported all four proposed changes to the City Charter. Â
