Soggy Start to Halloween 2013 in Bloomfield and Bloomfield Hills

Here's a quick, need-to-know guide for Halloween 2013 in Bloomfield.

Rain might be in the forecast for Halloween 2013, but we know that won't deter all the witches, goblins — and Batman, apparently — from trick-or-treating tonight.

Here's what you need to know:

The Hours

Bloomfield Township and Bloomfield Hills do not have official hours set for trick-or-treaters, but authorities recommend between dusk and 9 p.m. on Oct. 31.

Wet Weather

The National Weather Service forecast calls for rain with possible thunderstorms durin the day and evening, and a 100 percent chance of rain at night. High temperatures will reach about 67 degrees, which will fall to 51 degrees at night.

Safety First

There are many small steps Halloween enthusiasts can take to keep themselves and their loved ones safe tonight. The top five:

  • Go out in groups and resist taking shortcuts in alleys and backyards
  • Children should have all treats carefully inspected before eating
  • Children should accept treats only at the door and ever enter a stranger's home
  • Keep pets inside on Halloween night
  • If you are driving, slow it down and watch out!
