Suspect, Vehicle Sought in Connection With Townsend Cleaners Burglary

Authorities released surveillance video footage of a man wanted in the September break-in at the Townsend Cleaners off Maple Road.

Detectives with the Bloomfield Township Police Department are looking for the public's help to identify a suspect in a burglary at the Townsend Cleaners earlier this year.

Authorities recently released surveillance camera images of the man believed responsible for breaking into the business, near the intersection of Maple and Cranbrook roads, and the vehicle he used. Officers responded to an alarm at the business, located at 2431 W. Maple Rd., shortly before 2 a.m. on Sept. 2 and discovered the front glass door shattered, reports said. The intruder or intruders were gone, and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect pulled up behind the building in a vehicle, believed to be a light colored Saab 2-door convertible, according to the video. He is described as white male, approximately 6 feet tall, about 170 lbs and appears to be smoking a cigarette. Reports said he took the cash register drawers with the  money and fled in the same vehicle.
