Thanksgiving Week in Bloomfield 2013

Bloomfield Township

The Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. at Township Hall. Among the items on the agenda are public hearings for the Carillon Hills Subdivision street lighting assessment; federal community development block grant funds; and an introduction to the 2014-15 preliminary budget.

Trash Pick-up

Trash service will remain on the regular schedule for residents between Monday and Wednesday; however, due to the Thanksgiving holiday, service will be delayed by one day for those that typically have service on Thursday and Friday.

Menorah Lighting

The annual menorah display in Shain Park will start early this year with the first night of Chanukah on Wed. Nov. 27. The official lighting ceremony, featuring Avy Schreiber and the Pella Ensemble will take place at 5 p.m. Dec. 1, organized by the Birmingham-Bloomfield Chai Center. Chanukah ends Thursday, Dec. 5. 

School's Out

The Thanksgiving holiday starts early for Bloomfield Hills Schools students, who will attend only a half-day of classes on Tuesday. Schools are closed Wednesday through Friday for the the Thanksgiving holiday, as are the city's various private schools. Classes resume Monday for most.
