The Tile Shop Moves into Bloomfield Township

The home decor display and design store takes over the long-vacated space at Gateway Plaza.

In April, we asked Bloomfield Patch readers what they're vision was for this vacancy in the Gateway Plaza on Bloomfield Township's north end, and we had several replies.

Among the myriad of results were Busch's grocery store, a Quaker Steak and Lube Restaurant, and a Bed, Bath and Beyond. Though good ideas, the spot will be the new home of the The Tile Shop, a national chain that specializes in tile products and do-it-yourself improvement projects. The store features granite, travertine, slate, marble, sandstone, quartzite, rock, glass, porcelain, ceramic, and installation products, according to promotional material.

No official open date is disclosed on the chain's website, but the renovations to both the interior and exterior are well under way. Located at 2063 S. Telegraph Rd., the new store is sandwiched between Pet Supplies Plus and Performance Bicycle. It was formerly a CompUSA store and remained vacant since a Halloween City superstore closed in November 2011.
