Fire Closes Eastbound Grand River Avenue Thursday Afternoon
The Brighton Area Fire Department responded to a fire at A & H Auto Repair on Grand River Avenue.
Fire engines blocked eastbound Grand River Thursday afternoon as firefighters worked to put out a fire at near Appian Way in Brighton.
Brighton Area Fire Department received the call at 3:32 p.m. As of 4:20 p.m., the fire was out, but firefighters remained on the scene.
Brighton Area Fire Chief Michael O'Brian said the fire originated on the back wall of the building and that firefighters had to cut a hole in the ceiling to put it out.

O'Brian said the cause of the fire is unknown at this time and an investigation is underway.
The business owner's wife was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital for smoke inhalation. No one else was injured.

Fire Engines from Green Oak, Hartland and South Lyon were also on scene.
