LCC is using federal funding to forgive outstanding account balances for the past four years. This includes recalling eligible accounts from collection. The funding comes from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III), authorized by the 2021 American Rescue Plan.

“The pandemic has been hard for everyone, and we want to pay forward this federal funding to benefit our students,” President Steve Robinson said. “We hope students take advantage of this fresh start to re-enroll and complete their education, but even if they don’t, we hope the account forgiveness gives them some peace of mind during a difficult time.”

It is important to note that, due to the nature of the federal funding, this is a one-time program. Students are responsible for full payment for all future semesters, either through financial aid, a payment plan or payment in full. Multiple payment plans are available to students, making budgeting their return to college convenient.
