HOWELL, MI — A West Bloomfield man died Sunday after he was hit by a car on Interstate 96 in Livingston County, according to police.
The crash happened at 11 a.m. on the freeway near Mason Road in Howell, according to police.
Police said the 68-year-old man was driving his Buick west on the freeway near Mason Road when he stopped and exited his vehicle.

He then tried crossing three lanes of Interstate 96 on foot and was struck by a Toyota, according to police.
He was taken to the University of Michigan Hospital where he died, according to police.

The driver of the Toyota, a 55-year-old woman from Sterling Heights, was not injured in the crash, according to police.
