Metro Detroit Man Dies In Construction Accident: Police

Police believe the incident was a workplace accident, but were still investigating.

BRIGHTON, MI — A St. Clair Shores man died after a construction accident Monday in Livingston County, according to Michigan State Police.

The incident happened at 3:15 p.m. in the area of Grand River near Interstate 96 in Brighton Township, police said.

Police said the 23-year-old man was working in an excavated hole at the job site when an excavator bucket struck him. Police said the worker operating the machine did not know the man was in the hole.

The victim, who had critical injuries, was taken to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, where he died, police said.
