Toppled Semi Snarls Traffic, Creates Steel Mess

U.S. 23 near Interstate 96 shut down for several hours.

A semi trucked rolled over on U.S. 23 in Brighton Township this afternoon, tying up traffic for several hours.

According to LivingstonDaily.com, the crash occurred around 2:45 p.m. when a semi exited Interstate 96 and entered the ramp on northbound U.S. 23.  The article stated that it was perhaps the truck’s load of steel parts that shifted to tip the truck over.

LivingstonDaily.com stated no injuries were reported, but 20,000 pounds of steel that spilled out of the truck had to be cleaned up. The expressway was shut down for several hours.

WHMI (93.5FM) reported that the expressway reopened around 7 p.m.
