• Florida trucker sentenced for killing 3 members of ‘Meet the Putmans' family (mlive.com) — Tuscola County officials in Caro have sentenced a Florida truck driver to a year in jail for a crash that killed three members of the well-known Putman family and injured five others. The case, which drew on the efforts of Caro police and firefighters among other agencies, underscores ongoing concerns about deadly crashes at rural intersections in the county.
   

• Caro resident wins $100,000 in Michigan Lottery's Super Raffle (abc12.com) — A Caro resident just hit a $100,000 prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Super Raffle, with the winning ticket bought at Thumb Meat Market on East Frank Street in town. Gilbert Godinez, 69, says he’ll invest part of the windfall and use the rest to travel, after a strategy of buying monthly tickets paid off with a lucky last-minute purchase.
   

• 54-year-old died, MSP sergeant injured in shootout (wilx.com) — A Michigan State Police sergeant from the Caro post was injured and a 54-year-old man died after shots were fired during a mental health pickup in Koylton Township Tuesday night. Investigators say the man, encountered in a vehicle, had a weapon before the exchange of gunfire. The sergeant was treated for a hand wound and released, and the case remains under state police investigation.
