Local Store Provides Unique Wines, Fresh Produce

How did your business come to be?: My wife, Francisca Fernandez and I were looking to open a business in Ann Arbor but could not find a suitable site. We discovered that there was an available store front in Chelsea and made inquiries. Our original plan was to open a wine store but were informed by the landlord that the next door business,established and in the same location for over 100 years, was for sale and wanted to know whether we were interested in expanding the business concept to include groceries. We investigated, liked what we saw and proceeded to buy the business. In late 2012, our lease expired and we relocated to our current address.

What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?: We have expanded our produce offerings to include local and organic items such as salad mix, garlic, potatoes, onions, rutabaga and heirloom tomatoes. We test all our products prior to placing them in the store to ensure quality and taste. Our new location is convenient to not only Chelsea residents, but also those from Jackson, Stockbridge, Dexter, Grass Lakes and Manchester.

What services does your business provide?: We are a specialty food and wine store that focuses on high quality products at reasonable prices.

What do you want your business to be best known for?: Excellent customer service and quality products that are locally produced (whenever possible).

What's your most popular product or service?: Our hand selected wines and our hormone free, antibiotic free beef and chicken.

Why did you choose to locate to the area?: Chelsea is a dynamic small town. People are passionate about living here in a sustainable manner. There is wide support for local artists, the schools and local businesses. We get to know each one of our customers who helped us select the products that we carry. Our customers want to see us succeed and are loyal friends.
