City Offices Begin New Hours of Operation Tuesday; Two Job Openings at City Hall
Starting this week, City Hall will be open 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

Clawson city offices will now be closed on Fridays, beginning this week, as part of the city's strategy to reduce the deficit by nearly $470,000. will now be open from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday, but City Manager Mark Pollock said officials will eventually shift the hours to closing at 5:30 p.m. once they hire two part-time workers.
The city is accepting applications for a part-time office floater who can assist with each department and a part-time administrative assistant to help with filing, answering phones, the city yearbook and other tasks.
The will no longer be open Fridays, but Director Kathy Leenhouts has agreed to deliver lunch to seniors in the Meals on Wheels program on Fridays. will remain open for groups that rent it for activities, and the will still operate on Fridays. Teen Center Director Beverly Owens agreed to work unpaid on Fridays to continue a service that is very important to the community, she said.

The Department of Public Works will also operate Monday-Thursday. Pollock said the city will address a plan for leaf pickup later this year, and DPW employees will still complete snow removal as needed.

The new budget results in a 10 percent salary cut for city employees, accomplished by cutting their work week from 40 hours to 36 hours. Police officers also agreed to a 10 percent wage cut. Officers still will work the same shifts, but the records office will be closed Fridays. The police records hours will be 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday.
