Clawson Relay for Life Raises $45,559

Clawson's Relay for Life participants finished strong this year, raising a total of $45,559 and celebrating 42 cancer survivors during the event. 

Steven Drotoz said although they fell short of their goal of $50,000, the event still was a great success.

"We would like to thank everyone who participated this year," Drotoz said in an email to the Clawson Patch. "The Clawson community came through once again."

Drotoz said this year's standout participant was , who walked "an astonishing 120 laps." Lukas was also an active committee member of Relay for Life.

Here are the awards from the 2011 Relay for Life in Clawson held May 7-8 at City Park:

Highest Fundraising Individual — Robert Judd, Team Grandpa

Highest Fundraising Team — Team Grandpa

Rookie Team of the Year — International Academy

Best Campsite — Team Donna

Best Team Spirit — Team Grandpa
